I’m an orc

I’m an orc

A Morgul day
In a deep and dark December
I’m alone
Gazing from my guard post to the fields below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of corpses.
I’m an orc,
An uruk-hai.

They’ve built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It’s laughter and it’s loving I disdain.
I’m an orc,
An uruk-hai.

Don’t talk of Dwarves,
But I’ve heard the word before;
It’s sleeping in my memory.
I won’t disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I’ve never met Dwarves I never would have cried.
I’m an orc,
An uruk-hai.

I have my boots
Nazgul sorcery to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Resting in the guard room, safe as in a tomb.
I love no one and no one loves me.
I’m an orc,
An uruk-hai.

And  an orc feels no pain;
And an uruk-hai never cries.
